Ölüdeniz Paragliding FAQ
15 expert answers covering everything you need to know about tandem paragliding in Fethiye — from weight restrictions and weather to pricing, safety certifications, and takeoff points on Babadağ.
Pricing & Booking
How much does paragliding in Ölüdeniz cost in 2026?
Standard tandem flights start at $150 per person, all-inclusive (pilot, insurance, Babadağ forestry fee, hotel transfer from Fethiye). The 4K Media Bundle is $190, adding GoPro HERO 12 video and 100+ edited photos. Group discounts available for 3+ people. See our complete price breakdown →
What's included in the paragliding price?
Everything. THK T2 licensed pilot, $1M aviation insurance, Babadağ Mountain forestry + cable car fee ($45 value), free hotel transfer from Fethiye/Ölüdeniz/Hisarönü, EN 926-certified equipment, reserve parachute, life vest, and safety briefing. The only optional add-on is the 4K Media Bundle (+$40).
Health & Requirements
What is the weight limit for Ölüdeniz paragliding?
Maximum 100kg for men and 85kg for women. Maximum height: 200cm. These limits are set by the EN 926 tandem wing certifications — the combined pilot+passenger weight must stay within the wing's certified load range (100–220kg). This isn't a rule we can bend; it's physics.
Can children do tandem paragliding?
Yes, children aged 6 and above can fly with a parent or guardian's written consent. The child must weigh at least 30kg and be able to run 3–5 steps during takeoff. Children under 12 are paired with our most experienced pilots (Captain Murat or Captain Ahmet) and fly from the 1,700m zone for a gentler experience.
Is Ölüdeniz paragliding safe for beginners?
Absolutely. Tandem paragliding is specifically designed for people with zero flight experience. Your THK T2 licensed pilot controls 100% of the flight — takeoff, steering, and landing. Your only job is to run during launch and sit back. Over 100,000 tandem flights are completed safely from Babadağ every year. Learn more about our safety standards →
Weather & Timing
What happens if weather cancels my flight?
Full refund or free rescheduling — your choice. Flights are grounded if winds at Babadağ 1700m station exceed 15–20 km/h, or in case of rain/storms. Approximately 10–15% of booked flights are weather-cancelled in peak season. We never fly in unsafe conditions. Read about our weather decision protocol →
What is the best time of year for Fethiye paragliding?
The season runs April through November. July–August: strongest thermals, longest flights (45 min). September–October: most stable, smooth air — ideal for nervous flyers. May: best for photography. All months are excellent. See our detailed seasonal guide →
Best time of DAY to fly?
Morning (07:30–10:00): Smoothest, calmest air — best for first-timers and photography. Midday (12:00–14:00): Strongest thermals, highest altitude climbs. Sunset (16:00–18:00): Legendary Ölüdeniz golden-hour views — the most visually stunning slot.
How long does the paragliding flight last?
Airborne time: 25–45 minutes depending on thermals, wind, and takeoff altitude. The total experience from hotel pickup to Belcekiz Beach landing: approximately 2–2.5 hours, including the 40-minute drive up Babadağ Mountain and the safety briefing.
Logistics & Preparation
What should I wear for Babadağ paragliding?
Shoes: Closed-toe trainers/sneakers (NO flip-flops, sandals, or heels — you need to run at takeoff). Clothing: Comfortable pants or shorts, plus a light jacket (it's 10–15°C cooler at 1,960m than at sea level, even in July). Accessories: Sunglasses with a strap. Avoid loose scarves, dangling jewelry, or hats without chin straps.
Do you provide hotel pickup from Fethiye?
Yes — free minibus transfer from all hotels in Fethiye city center, Çalış Beach, Ovacık, Hisarönü, and Ölüdeniz. Pickup is 60 minutes before your scheduled flight. The 40-minute drive up Babadağ is part of the experience — the views get more spectacular with every switchback.
Can I take my phone during the flight?
Yes, but ONLY with a secure strap or lanyard. Phones dropped from 1,960m are never recovered and can be dangerous to people below. We strongly recommend the 4K Media Bundle ($190) — your pilot captures professional-grade footage from angles you simply can't get holding your own phone.
Can I request acrobatic maneuvers?
Yes! If you want spirals, wingovers, or SAT maneuvers, just tell your pilot. Acrobatics are only performed over the sea (never over land) for safety. These produce 2–3G forces, similar to a roller coaster. Not recommended if you're prone to motion sickness. Your pilot will check your comfort level before attempting any maneuver.
Safety & Regulations
Is paragliding in Turkey regulated?
Yes, strictly regulated by the Turkish Aeronautical Association (THK) and the General Directorate of Civil Aviation (SHGM). All commercial tandem pilots must hold a THK T2 license, requiring 500+ solo hours, 200+ supervised tandem hours, and written exams. SkyHigh is a Class-A licensed flight school (#48K34). See our full safety guide →
What insurance is included?
Every SkyHigh flight includes $1M Third Party Liability & Personal Accident Insurance. You do NOT need additional paragliding-specific travel insurance. Budget operators in Fethiye may carry minimal coverage ($5–10K) or none at all — always ask to see proof of insurance before booking.
How high is Babadağ Mountain?
Babadağ is 1,969 meters (6,460 feet) above sea level. There are 4 takeoff zones: 1,960m (summit), 1,700m (main stage), 1,200m (sunset zone), and 900m (training only). Most flights launch from 1,700m or 1,960m. See our complete Babadağ guide →
